Car Batteries

Car batteries are made out of lead, which is one of the metals that metal recycling companies look for the most because it’s in much demand and very expensive. Many people don’t think about car batteries when they’re trying to make some extra cash, but if you have any lying around your garage or driveway, you might be able to make some serious money.

Aluminum Siding

Many people think about aluminum cans when they collect recyclables, but it can actually be very profitable to recycle your aluminum siding as well. Aluminum siding is basically just rolled up aluminum that has been melted down and put into a mould to create sheets, which are then cut out to the lengths needed for siding. This is one of those items that can be taken directly to any scrap metal recycling centre, so you won’t have to worry about hauling it anywhere or sorting it into piles.

Metal Scrap

Most people don’t know there’s money in metal scraps until they try and sell it themselves. Metal scrap is just that, bits and pieces of metal that look like they can be melted down and reused for something else. The best thing about metal scrap is that it doesn’t really matter what the original purpose was, so long as there’s enough to sell. There are even some types of metal scrap that you might not even realize can be sold, like old doorknobs, doorknobs and hinges.

Window Frames

Last but not least, if you have any sort of window frame lying around, possibly one that’s too short to be used for its original purpose anymore, then it might be time to bring it down to your local scrap metal recycling centre and make a little cash. The great thing about window frames is that it’s usually easy to get them down to the recycling centre, plus you’ll be doing the environment a bit of good by recycling something rather than throwing it out and creating another pile in your local landfill.

So next time you’re wondering what items might be able to bring in a little extra cash, don’t forget about those old car batteries, aluminum siding, metal scrap and window frames that might be lying around your garage or driveway.
