Carrum Downs Secondary College

There are around 940 students enrolled in Years 7-12 at Carrum Downs Secondary College, making it a lively community. Our mission is to instill in our pupils the ability to shape their own destiny, respect one another, and flourish intellectually as well as socially. We keep a positive, caring, and safe environment where every student is given the opportunity to demonstrate learning growth by actively teaching and promoting the college values of respect, integrity, and effort. Students are given access to a large array of learning options that are designed to meet the varied requirements and interests of each individual student. These include disciplines like as food technology and hospitality (both of which are supported by experiences gained at Cafe263), performing arts and the annual play, athletic teams, leadership programs, and numerous outdoor education camps.

Our dedicated instructors adhere to a standard lesson plan in order to keep their students’ attention on achieving academic success. Furthermore, they make use of the Resilience Project in order to cultivate constructive relationships with their pupils, which in turn supports the psychological growth of young people.

When a student enters our school, they are placed in one of the four Houses, and they remain under the supervision of the same House throughout their whole time here at our secondary school. This is what we mean by saying that our House structure is vertical. This strengthens the ties that bind students, their families, and the College staff to the institution, which in turn fosters a greater sense of belonging at school.

Because of the recent investments that we made in the infrastructure, this year will see the construction of a state-of-the-art sports facility that costs multiple millions of dollars. This facility will significantly strengthen both the educational programs that we offer as well as our capacity to provide exceptional experiences for both our students and the larger community.
