The idea of providing children with access to high-caliber early education was the impetus for the establishment of Goodstart, which was named for the company’s original mission statement. We are Australia’s largest provider of early learning and care, and all of our revenues are invested back into our centers, our programs for children, and our employees so that we may continue to grow as a business.

In 2009, a group of prominent community sector organizations, including The Benevolent Society, Mission Australia, the Brotherhood of St. Laurence, and Social Ventures Australia, collaborated to launch the development of Goodstart. Our four founding organizations recognized the potential to make a significant difference in the lives of children by expanding their access to early learning opportunities of the highest possible caliber. Since the very beginning, we have been motivated by a profound sense of purpose, with the end goal of providing all of Australia’s children with the most advantageous beginning to their lives as possible.

We are the beating heart of hundreds of communities across Australia, and we do so thanks to our network of more than 660 centers. Because we are a nonprofit organization, all that we do is not only geared toward improving the lives of the more than 60,000 children who are currently in our care, but we also advocate on behalf of all children and families in Australia.

We place a strong emphasis on inclusion as a core value of our organization, and we make every effort to cultivate environments and support networks that make our centers accessible to children from all backgrounds.

We take the process of reconciliation seriously and are committed to traveling this path alongside our families, our children, and our communities. We are aware of the one-of-a-kind chance we have to foster a knowledge of the history we all share, contribute to the formation of the conversation, and fight racism with the next generation of Australians.
